Maltese duo to figure in ITF/Tennis Europe events in Serbia

The Malta Tennis Federation has just accepted a special invitation to enter two young players to the ITF/Tennis Europe U-16 Development Championship.

In his message, Dave Miley, Director of Tennis Development at the International Tennis Federation (ITF), said the objective was to have young players figuring in tournaments which are most appropriate for their level of play.

The venue for this year's championship is the Tennis Club AS Novisad in Serbia and Montenegro. There will be two tournaments, in fact, and these are scheduled between April 28 and May 3 and May 4 to 8.

Gillian Galea, Level One coach, will be accompanying Simon Camilleri and Steffi Sullivan to Serbia. These two players are currently benefiting from the Malta Tennis Federation's training scheme offered to its most promising players. It is an ideal incentive for upcoming players to gain experience and gauge their skills with those of foreign players.

European Junior Tour regulations will be applied and players will receive ranking points according to performance.

Players invited will be hailing from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia, Bulgaria, Estonia, FYR Macedonia, Georgia, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Romania, Ukraine and Serbia and Montenegro.
