Martial artists from the Taekwondo Dragon Club and Birżebbuġa Taekwondo Club recently travelled to Sicily for a friendly competition against their counterparts from the AS Taekwondo 2000 of Mazara del Vallo.

The Dragon Club team was made up of Mauro Busuttil, Kyle Vassallo, Brandon Borg and Lynsey Fenech.

Bjorn Piscopo, Sharelle Zammit and Edward and Christian Camilleri represented the Birżebbuġa Taekwondo club.

The Maltese contingent, led by Stephen Formosa and Dennis Cilia, were welcomed by com-petition organiser Vito Marino who conducted a training session and a demo in strategical exercises.

In all, 85 members from the host club took part in the competition and grading process.

Most of the athletes had the opportunity to play two bouts, each consisting of two rounds of two minutes each.

The Maltese group won nine bouts from the 14 contested with Lynsey Fenech and the Camilleri duo prevailing in their two bouts.
