A Maltese man who was on vacation in Syracuse sustained neck wounds last Saturday when he was allegedly attacked by a group of knife-wielding Sicilians.
The victim, who was in the company of another two Maltese, was rushed to a nearby hospital but was released soon after and is now back home.
According to a friend of the victim, the Maltese were attacked by six Sicilians "who apparently were dying to pick a fight. They frantically wielded knives at us for no apparent reason".
The three Maltese men had travelled to Syracuse on a private boat.
The Italian police were informed about the incident but no arrests are known to have been made so far.
