We migrated to Australia in 1958 from Birkirkara and since 1977 my wife and children have been back to Malta four times, enjoying the parish feasts and the festivities, the beautifully decorated churches, the bells ringing, the streets so nicely decorated, the statues going around the streets, the bands, the people enjoying the feasts.

Allow me to explain the reason for this letter. I wake up every Sunday morning at six to watch the news from Malta, l-Ahbarijiet. Firstly, I can't believe it, but sometimes the news is only 20 minutes long, instead of 30. Is this because they run out of tape or because there is no news to show?

Moreover, sometimes 60 per cent of the news is boring. I have seen other countries' news and they always carry about 10 minutes of news showing scenes of festivities of that country. My suggestion is to please show us the feast of the week, showing the church, the festivities, the band, the procession with the statue, people enjoying themselves and the like, or show a town, the people and the historical buildings of that town.
