The Malta Tourism Authority, together with the Federation of Associations of Travel and Tourism Agents, the Malta Transport Authority and the Employment and Training Corporation are participating in three European Union Leonardo de Vinci programmes related to tourism.
The Leonardo Programme, which the MTA has been successfully involved in for the past few years, offers training and working opportunities to member and applicant countries of the European Union.
In September, the ETC and the MTA are to send a group of 15 young job seekers to work, train and improve their skills in the food and beverage sector within the hospitality industry in Ireland.
FATTA together with the MTA's human resource and support services directorate, as well as the MTA's conference and incentive travel division, are to send 10 local conference and incentive representatives to train in Germany for two months in January 2004.
The aim of this project is to give the opportunity to Maltese staff working in this sector to have access to more vocational training and to the German-speaking part of conference and incentive business.
This month, the MTA, the Malta Transport Authority, the Public Transport Association, and the Gozo Bus Owners Association are also sending 10 bus owner/drivers to participate in a two-week training programme in Portsmouth, UK.
