Local hit musical Porn will debut on a London stage next month, as its creators get a step closer to their dream of fame and fortune in the West End.
The revamped version of the original show will feature a brand new English cast and will be performed in a fringe venue, Theatre 503 in Battersea Park Road.
Although a number of Maltese actors auditioned to be part of the London show, competition was stiff, and the only original cast member will be writer Malcolm Galea who plays the hilarious narrator.
It will also feature David Burt, a well-known name in musical theatre who was in the original casts of Les Miserables and Chess, together with Brendan Cull, Ahmet Ahmet, Alain Terzoli, Jody Peach and Sophia Thierens.
Last August, Porn had a successful run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, thanks to a little help from West End theatre producer Sir Cameron Macintosh and film producer Winston Azzopardi.
The comedy was written by Mr Galea, Boris Cezek and Kris Spiteri, known collectively as Indiskarf.
But in London it will be directed by Paul Robinson - the joint artistic director of Theatre 503 - who fell in love with the show after watching it in Edinburgh.
Mr Robinson has spoken highly of the production, saying it is irresistibly charming and keeps its audience right at the heart of it.
With his expert collaboration, the team has tweaked bits of the script to make it even more appealing, and longer.
The story revolves around the unlikely Maltese hero Stefan Bugeja who unwittingly gets involved in the American porn industry after a difficult break-up.
It will debut on April 6 and run until May 1. For more information visit www.thepornmusical.com and www.theatre503.com.
