Maltese songwriter makes waves with debut EP and US radio play

Johann Caruana writes, composes, produces and promotes all his music himself

Maltese music producer and songwriter Johann Caruana has released his debut EP Fractured – a gripping nu-metal collection blending rap, metal and emotional storytelling.

Drawing inspiration from iconic acts like Linkin Park, the three-track EP explores themes of inner turmoil, resilience and transformation.

Released in June, Fractured showcases Caruana’s talent for crafting immersive musical narratives. Each track serves as a chapter in a larger emotional journey, culminating in the powerful declaration: “I am fractured, but I’ve learnt how to fight the flame.”

The EP balances heavy riffs with raw lyricism, creating a sound that is both aggressive and introspective.

Caruana’s approach is fully independent – he writes, composes, produces and promotes all his music himself. This DIY ethic has not stopped him from gaining international recognition.

A major milestone came when his blues rock single Midnight Blues received airplay on WANT FM98.9 in Tennessee, the US. The track marks Caruana’s first breakthrough in the US radio scene.

His growing listener base now spans the United States, the United Kingdom, Italy, Australia and India. Through strategic networking with radio presenters and platforms like Back2Noize in Switzerland, Caruana continues to build global momentum.

Looking ahead, Caruana plans to collaborate with local vocalists to bring fresh, human elements to his sound, moving beyond the AI-generated vocals currently featured in his music.

Johann Caruana’s work is available on all major streaming platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music and Amazon Music.
