The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Maltese Conductor Alan Chircop will be taking part in a Beatles Philharmonic Tribute Concert being presented by SIM Malta and Rocco Buonvino at The Royal Albert Hall on October 28 to mark 50 years of music of The Beatles.

Philip Chircop, director of SIM Malta, told a press conference that guest appearances will be made by legendary Dame Shirley Bassey, Tony Christie, Darius Campbell and Beverley Knight.

Artistic Director Alan Chircop said that The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra will deliver a performance of musical arrangements by Maltese composer Wayne Grima.

A 100-strong Maltese choir who will complement the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. A number of Maltese singers will also take part.

Composer Wayne Grima said that the tribute would be a musical spectacular of inspired classical interpretations from The Beatles' songbook.

"This production has got something for everyone, from Beatles' fans to classical lovers alike. A musical marriage that embodies dramatic orchestral arrangements imaginatively fused together with rock and pop elements, but in keeping with the true spirit and style of The Beatles. An exceptional production which will take you back down memory lane within the magnificent atmosphere of the Royal Albert Hall."

Marica Mizzi, representing the Office of the President, said that the concert would be under the patronage of President Abela, who will be attending the concert.

The event is supporting the The Malta Community Chest Fund and the organizers are also seeking arrangements with local companies to sponsor tickets to be donated to Maltese patients and their families, undergoing treatment in London.
