Maltese workers more stressed, angry, than European counterparts - Gallup survey
State of the Global Workplace Report paints a grim picture for Malta, although most workers still said it is a good time to find a job here
Maltese workers have reported higher levels of stress, anger and sadness than their European counterparts in a Gallup survey.
The results of the State of the Global Workplace: 2026 Report were highlighted in a statement issued by the Nationalist Party, which expressed concern that across several indicators, Malta ranks worse than many European countries.
The survey found that:
In Malta, 37% of employees are thriving in their overall lives. This compared to the European regional average of 49% and the global average of 34%.
57% of employees in Malta experienced stress in much of the previous day. This compared to a European regional average of 39% and a global average of 40%.
22% of employees experienced anger for a lot of the previous day compared to the Europe regional average of 15% and the global average of 22%.
18% of employees said they experienced sadness in the previous day. This compared to the Europe regional average of 17% and the global average of 23%.
Still, the survey found that in Malta, 64% of employees say it is currently a good time to find a job compared to the European regional average of 57% and the global average of 52%.
