Man, 20, critical after overturning car in Lija crash

Collision on Triq il-Mosta occurred at 7pm on Friday evening

A 20-year-old man is in a critical condition after he crashed his car in Lija on Friday night, overturning it in the process. 

The man, an English national who lives in Naxxar, was driving a Volkswagen Golf that collided with a Hyundai i20 driven by a 39-year-old man from Luxembourg and with a 41-year-old female passenger. 

The collision occurred on Triq il-Mosta at around 7pm.

Emergency crews were called to the scene and Civil Protection Department officials extracted the Volkswagen driver from his overturned car. He was rushed to Mater Dei Hospital by ambulance, where doctors said his injuries were serious. 

Magistrate Monica Borg Galea is leading an inquiry into the incident, which is also the subject of a police investigation.
