Man, 75, admits to setting on fire a car parked inside a farm
The arson took place on Valletta Road in Żurrieq
A 75-year-old man was handed a suspended sentence after pleading guilty to setting a vehicle on fire.
Joseph Cutajar of Żurrieq was accused of arson, causing wilful damage to third-party property and breaching the public peace.
The car was parked inside a farm belonging to a third party.
The incident happened on January 16, 2026, on Valletta Road in Żurrieq.
The man initially pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against him. The plea was changed on March 24.
By his own admission, Cutajar was found guilty of all charges brought against him and was handed a two-year jail term suspended for four years.
Two three-year restraining orders were issued: one in favour of the vehicle owner and the other in favour of the farm owner.
The man was ordered to pay €1,146.22 in court expenses.
Magistrate Gabriella Vella presided.
