A 49-year-old man from Birkirkara this morning pleaded not guilty in court to having broken his wife's nose when he threw a stool at her during an argument at their home in Birkirkara.
He also denied threatening and harassing her.
Defence lawyer Edward Zammit Lewis asked Magistrate Doreen Clarke for bail on the grounds that the man would be living with his parents.
Police Inspector Kevin Farrugia confirmed this but objected to bail because of the seriousness of the charges.
The man was granted bail against a deposit of €700 and a personal guarantee of €3,000.
