Man admits threatening another man with a knife during Marsa fight

The police found the man still holding the knife when they arrived on the scene

A 46-year-old from Marsa admitted he was carrying a knife when he attacked and threatened another man during a fight, a court heard on Tuesday.

Inspector Ritienne Gauci told the court how police were informed of a fight in Marsa on Monday, and when they arrived on the scene, they found two men arguing.

Allegedly, one of the men tried to drive into the accused. The other man walked into a nearby band club and came out with a knife, heading towards the other person.

Gauci said the accused never pointed the knife at the other person, but when the police arrived at the scene, they found him holding it.

The man pleaded guilty to the charges.

The court said the sentence would be handed down in the coming days.

Bail was requested, and the prosecution did not object. Magistrate Ingrid Bianco granted the accused bail against €150 and a personal guarantee of €5,150. He also has to sign a bail book.

A protection order was issued in favour of the alleged victim. Police inspector Ritienne Gauci prosecuted. Lawyers Thomas Barbara and Yanica Barbara appeared for the accused.
