The police are looking for a 31-year-old man from Fgura in connection with a stabbing incident at Żejtun on Tuesday night.

A 37-year-old man, also from Fgura, was seriously injured in the incident. The police said that at first the condition of the injured man was critical but this improved after he was operated upon and his condition was yesterday described as stable.

The police said they were informed at about midnight that a heated argument had developed between the two men in Misraħ il-Bjar. On-site investigations indicated that the argument developed into a fight during which one of the men was stabbed with a pointed weapon. The police immediately launched a search for the younger man, who fled the scene after the stabbing.

The victim was rushed to Mater Dei Hospital in an ambulance.

Police investigations continue.
