Man charged with assault after carwash fight

The couple started arguing at a carwash close to the airport, a court heard

A man has been charged with assaulting his partner after a fight broke out while they were in a car wash.

The woman is expected to be charged with assaulting the man, as CCTV footage showed that “she hit him as much as he hit her”, a court heard.

The man, 26, pleaded not guilty to assaulting his partner on April 26 while they were at the carwash located close to the airport. An argument broke out, and the couple started hitting each other.

Magistrate Antoine Agius Bonnici issued a protection order binding the man not to approach the woman or face a fine of €7,000. He was granted bail against a personal guarantee of €30,000.

Police Inspector Omar Zammit prosecuted, while lawyers Nicholas Mifsud and Nicole Falzon represented the man and lawyer Kris Busietta appeared for the woman.
