A 20-year-old Sliema man was yesterday charged with assaulting and slightly injuring a police sergeant in St Julian's on Saturday.

Massimo Giliberti pleaded not guilty to assaulting and injuring PS Martin Agius, damaging his watch and threatening him anould have wanted me to leave." .40 p.m.

He was also charged with disobeying police and breaching the peace.

Giliberti was granted bail against a personal guarantee of Lm1,000.

Police Inspector Mario Tonna prosecuted.
