A Gzira man of Syrian origin was yesterday charged with trying to seriously injure his estranged wife when he drove a car in her direction on Sunday.
The 34-year-old, was also charged with threatening, assaulting and slightly injuring his wife and breaching the peace.
He pleaded not guilty to the charges and was granted bail against a personal guarantee of Lm600.
Magistrate Giovanni Grixti also bound him not to approach any of the prosecution's witnesses including his wife and children at this stage.
Police Inspector Raymond D'anastas prosecuted.
Lawyer Frank Cassar appeared for the accused.
