A 39-year old man was arraigned in court on Sunday on charges of domestic violence.

The man, who cannot be named by court order, pleaded not guilty to slightly injuring his partner at their home on Friday, and to causing her to live in fear of violence over the previous years.

Magistrate Audrey Demicoli issued a protection order in favour of the victim, but accepted a request for bail after the defence said the accused would reside at a different address. He was ordered not to make contact with his partner, among other bail conditions.

Inspector Joanna Piscopo led the prosecution while lawyer Arthur Azzopardi appeared for the accused.
