A Valletta man was yesterday charged with a string of thefts in March and April this year, including stealing from his mother.

Omar Mallia, 26, was charged with stealing furniture and other items worth less than Lm1,000 from his mother's flat last March.

He was also charged with defrauding Vincenza Grixti, Brian Azzopardi, Wanda Micallef and Jason Mallia of more than Lm100 and stealing a mobile phone from Johann Chetcuti on March 24 and from Hilda Urry on April 4.

Mallia was also charged with stealing computer equipment and other items worth less than Lm1,000 from Rita Slannon's house in Msida on April 14 and stealing a statue from the Millennium Chapel on April 15.

He was further charged with stealing less than Lm1,000 in gold and silver items and less than another Lm1,000 cash from Christina Grogan on and before April 10, handling stolen property and relapsing.
