Man confesses to stealing debit cards

A Valletta man was put on probation for three years for stealing bank cards and making use of one of them by withdrawing money from an ATM.

Magistrate Lawrence Quintano heard Etienne Schembri, 25, plead guilty to stealing two debit cards and a cheque book belonging to Jessica Mifsud and withdrawing Lm200 from a Bank of Valletta ATM on September 14, 2003.

He also admitted to stealing two debit cards and a credit card from Eduardo Do Nascimento and the simple possession of heroin.

On handing down judgment the magistrate noted that Schembri had a clean criminal record and cooperated with the police.

Police Inspector Josric Mifsud prosecuted.

Dr José Herrera and Dr Roberto Montalto appeared for Schembri.
