A man has been confined to live in his garage after driving a van into the parapet of his Mosta home following an argument with his wife yesterday.

The 47-year-old man admitted to the charges, saying that he had momentarily been blinded by rage.

Magistrate Natasha Galea Sciberras ordered the man not to approach the Mosta home where his wife and children live.

The man told the court that his only alternative form of accommodation was to live in his Birkirkara garage.

A pre-sentencing report is being drawn up.

Inspector Godwin Scerri prosecuted and lawyer David Farrugia Sacco appeared for the accused.

In a separate case, a 35-year-old man was ordered not to approach or speak to his wife after trying to force her to have sex with him.

He denied the charges.

The couple are undergoing separation proceedings.

Defence lawyer Edward Gatt told the court that the man had yet to come to terms with the separation.

Inspector Paula Ciantar prosecuted.
