A 68-year-old man was killed on Friday when the forklifter he was operating overturned, crushing him in the process.

The police said the accident happened at the Birżebbuġa industrial zone at 8.15am.

The man, an Italian national, was certified dead on site.

An inquiry is being held.

The police are investigating.
