A man burst the tyres of his partner's car and then turned himself in, asking the police to arrest him before he did something worse, a court heard today.

Robert Dimech, 40, of Zebbug pleaded guilty to damaging a car belonging to Julie Galdes, using a knife without a licence and committing a crime during the operative period of a suspended jail term.

The court heard that just two days before this case he had been found guilty of carrying out a hold-up in a Zebbug shop.

He was denied bail and the court put off judgement until a pre-sentencing report was drawn up.
