A man died after he was trapped by refuse truck machinery early on Tuesday morning.
Jurgen Cassar died instantly in the accident at about 6am in Triq il-Kaċċatur, Qormi.
Known as tal-Fieres, the 40-year-old from Qormi was working at the back of his truck when he became trapped in the machinery.
Tearful family members were on the scene and hours later, the victim's son, Shazen Magri, paid tribute to his father, who had several brushes with the law and had been "trying to change his life".

"I love you, Dad. Please keep your hands over me from up above, and watch over me, my family, and all those around me. And everything that you wished to do better yourself, place it upon me so that I may give it to your grandson".
Magistrate Monica Borg Galea is holding an inquiry.
The Occupational Health and Safety Authority is also carrying out an inquiry. Its officers were on site.
In its annual report last year, the OHSA said almost a quarter of workplace accidents took place in the transportation and storage sector. This sector also recorded the highest number of fatalities in 2025, accounting for four of nine workplace deaths.
