Man dies following power tool incident in Attard field
Police found 71-year-old Mosta man injured following incident involving grinder
A Mosta man died due to injuries sustained by an angle grinder on Friday evening, the police said on Saturday.
The 71-year-old was at a field in Triq San Ġakbu, Attard at around 8pm when police received an emergency call to go to the scene.
There, they found the man injured. He had hurt himself while using the tool.
He was given emergency first aid but was pronounced dead at the scene a short while later.
Magistrate Monica Borg Galea is leading an inquiry into the incident. Police investigations are ongoing.
Grinders are handheld power tools that spin rotating discs at up to 12,000 rotations per minute. They are used to cut, grind, sand or polish a range of materials, including metal, stone or concrete.
