A man died on Sunday afternoon after finding himself in difficulty while swimming at Qui si Sana, Sliema.

The police said the incident happened at 1pm.

The man was brought to shore by people who happened to be near him but first aid proved futile and he died in hospital. 

He is still to be identified. 

A magisterial inquiry is underway.
