Man granted bail over alleged assault and threats
Accused ordered to sign daily and observe 9pm curfew
A man has been granted bail after being charged with injuring another man on Saturday evening.
Hamdi Ben Cherifia was taken to court on Sunday.
Apart from injuring another man, he was also charged with threatening the victim and causing him to fear that violence would be used against him.
In court, the prosecution objected to granting bail because of the gravity of the case and the possibility of evidence tampering.
However, the accused’s lawyer said his client did not have any contact with the victim and possibly did not even know who the witness is.
Magistrate Lara Lanfranco granted bail against a €3,000 bond and €7,000 personal guarantee.
The accused must sign a bail book once a day and abide by a 9pm curfew.
