Update 3: Zabbar shooting thought to be accident

A 20-year-old man from Zabbar was grievously injured by a gunshot in Zabbar this morning.

People on the scene said the incident happened in a field at about 10.30 a.m. and the man suffered a head injury.

Police sources said the shooting appeared to have been a hunting accident, but further investigations were needed. A man was questioned by the police on site.

His relatives stopped by journalists near the scene of the incident and in criticising their presence, also insisted that this was an incident and the person involved never hurt anyone.

Magistrate Doreen Clarke is holding an inquiry.
