A 46-year-old man was grievously injured on Tuesday in a traffic accident in Balzan.

The police said the accident happened in Triq Birbal at 8.15am.

The man, who is from Mosta, was hit by a Citroen that was being driven by a 51-year-old woman from Nadur.

He was given first aid by a medical team on site and was then taken to Mater Dei Hospital by ambulance.

The police are investigating.
