A man was seriously injured when he fell a height of one and a half metres from a balcony on Thursday afternoon, the police said.

The accident happened in Triq it-Turisti, St Paul's Bay, at 2.30pm.

The 57-year-old was assisted on site by an ambulance crew and then taken to hospital.

Magistrate Doreen Clarke is holding an inquiry.
