An elderly man was injured on Thursday when he fell a height of 10 courses while working on a cistern in Xewkija, Gozo.

The police said the accident happened at about 9.30am in a field at Triq il-Madonna tal-Ħniena.

The 68-year-old was assisted by a medical team and hospitalised.

Magistrate Brigitte Sultan is holding an inquiry.
