Man jailed after admitting to importing cannabis resin

The 23-year-old was one of three people who were accused of importing 500g of cannabis resin

A 23-year-old man has been jailed for three years after pleading guilty to importing cannabis resin.

Stef Bolier, a Dutch national living in Qormi, was arraigned in October 2024 along with two others – Bjorn Lantin and Diego Labriola.

The three were accused of importing 500g of cannabis resin with 15.5% purity, conspiracy and computer misuse.

Bolier was separately accused of being in possession of cannabis, cocaine and ecstasy in circumstances that denoted it was not for personal use, as well as disobeying lawful orders and negligent driving.

The prosecution and the accused reached a plea deal and filed a joint note in which they said that should Bolier plead guilty, the punishment to be imposed should be of three years' imprisonment and a €3,000 fine.

They also highlighted that Bolier had helped the police, and the sentence being requested took into consideration the provisions under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance.

The court considered that the man has a clean conviction sheet.

It also considered that the man had in his possession 22.21g cannabis resin with 5.5% purity, 42.80g cannabis grass with 3.5%, 17 ecstasy pills and 2.83g cocaine with 38%.

Police inspector Jonathan Pace testified in the proceedings in May 2025, telling the court that Bolier had released a sworn statement and provided information on the involvement of third parties.

The court upheld the request and jailed him for three years and fined him €3,000. He was banned from having a driving licence for three months. He was ordered to pay €1,404.33 in court expenses. The court also ordered the forfeiture of all moveable an immovable property.
