A 20-year-old man was jailed for 27 months yesterday after pleading guilty to trying to rob a house in Birkirkara last Friday.
Clayton Fenech of Ħamrun was charged with trying to steal from the house in Gejtano Mannarino Street with an unidentified accomplice at about 5.30 p.m.
He was also accused of damaging property and breaching the conditions of a two-year suspended sentence, handed down on April 15. Mr Fenech was imprisoned for 18 months for the attempted theft, and nine months for breaching his suspended sentence.
Magistrate Giovanni Grixti presided over the arraignment and inspectors Keith Arnaud and Bernard Charles Spiteri prosecuted.
