Man jailed four months after breaching five bail conditions
The accused was caught in St Julian's outside his curfew hours
A man has been sentenced to four months in prison after breaching five sets of bail conditions imposed on him by different magistrates.
Abdulaziz Mohammed Alamari Zamzam was seen outside in St Julian’s between 1am and 2am on April 13, in breach of a court-imposed curfew.
When police officials stopped him, he lied and told them that he had permission from the court to leave his house outside of his curfew hours.
In court, however, he pleaded guilty, and his early admission was taken into account during sentencing.
However, the court also felt that the accused’s behaviour had serious consequences, given that the court had trusted him with bail under strict conditions.
The court sentenced him to four months in prison and ordered him to forfeit €5,250 in bail deposits across various previous cases.
Magistrate Antoine Agius Bonnici delivered the sentence.
