A "road rage" argument turned deadly in Bidnija on Sunday morning when a man involved in a minor traffic collision went home, retrieved a pistol, and fatally shot the other driver.
The incident happened around 8am in Bidnija on a country road, which is normally two-way but was turned one-way because of works on a nearby road.
Sources said the source of the dispute was a minor collision in Triq il-Konkos between a motorcycle and a car belonging to two men who lived in the vicinity. Both vehicles sustained minor damage.
As a traffic warden arrived on the scene, the argument between the two continued to become more aggressive. At one point, one of the men walked to his home in the vicinity and returned with a pistol, shooting the other driver, according to sources.
The victim, identified as 53-year-old Jean Paul Busuttil, tried to drive to hospital but collapsed in Burmarrad. He was taken to hospital in an ambulance and died shortly after arrival.
