His employers, APS Bank paid tribute to Buttigieg through a Facebook post: "James was a highly respected colleague and he will be sorely missed by all those who had the pleasure of knowing and working with him, most especially his colleagues in the Commercial Banking Department."

Doctors for Road Safety Statement

In a statement following the fatality, Doctors for Road Safety said there was urgent need for an authority, dedicated solely to ensuring safety and peace of mind to all road users, to be set up.

D4RS said it was becoming increasingly concerned about the state of safety on our roads.

"The latest fatality today marks a very strong trend within a very short time frame of fatalities related to road accidents," it said.
