A Zabbar man was yesterday arraigned under arrest before Magistrate Michael Mallia and charged with violently resisting arrest.

Grazio Zammit, 31, was accused of attacking police officers and of disturbing the public peace over the weekend. He was also charged with stealing car accessories, items of clothing and mobile telephones from St Julians, Swieqi and other areas between June 5 and 6, with trying to steal a car and with damaging a number of other cars.

He pleaded not guilty.

He was denied bail.
