Man returned to home country after overstaying residential permit

He was arrested in Paceville after disturbing the public peace

A 26-year-old man was forcibly returned to his home country after overstaying his residential permit, the police said on Wednesday.

In a statement, the police said the man was arrested in Paceville after disturbing the public peace.

Following his arrest, it transpired that the man was working irregularly in Malta as his residence permit had expired.

He was issued with a removal and return order and has been banned from re-entering the Schengen area.

The police said the man was returned to his home country in "East Africa".
