Man returned home after trying to enter Malta with fake documents

He was arrested at MIA last year and jailed by court

A man who tried to enter Malta with fake documents last year has been returned to his home country in North Africa.

The police said in a statement that the man had been arrested at the Malta International Airport after landing from Istanbul.

He was carrying a fake identity card.

The police did not provide any more information about the man's identity and nationality, saying only that he was from North Africa.

When he was arraigned in court, he admitted the charges and was jailed.

Once the jailterm was up, he was kept at a detention centre while the police arranged for his forced return to his country of origin.
