Man seriously injured in four-storey fall down lift shaft

29-year old plummets while carrying out works in Naxxar

A man was seriously injured after falling down a lift shaft while carrying out some works.

The incident happened at around 4.30pm in Triq in-Nutar Debono in Naxxar.

A police statement said that preliminary investigations showed that the 29-year old man from Ħamrun fell around four storeys.

The Civil Protection Department and a medical team were called to assist at the scene.

The man was taken to Mater Dei Hospital where he was certified to have suffered serious injuries.

Police investigations, as well as those by the Occupational Health and Safety Authority, are ongoing.

Magistrate Dr Monica Borg Galea LL.D is leading an inquiry, while police investigations continue.
