A man was grievously injured when he was struck with an iron bar in Marsa early on Tuesday.

The police said the 37-year-old Somali, was found on the ground at Racecourse Street at about 7am and initial investigations showed he had been struck with an iron bar by a person who then fled.

The victim is being treated in hospital. Investigations are continuing.
