Inter coach Roberto Mancini, delighted to have picked up a trophy in his first season with the club after the Coppa Italia triumph against Roma, paid tribute to owner Massimo Moratti, who has spent heavily with little return in recent seasons.
"I dedicate this victory to the Moratti family and to all Inter fans who, after so many years, deserve some success," said Mancini.
Sinisa Mihajlovic fired Inter's winner on Wednesday night for a 3-0 win on aggregate. Mancini said Inter now had to build on their Cup success and aim for the Italian title.
"We have shown that we aren't inferior to anyone," he said. "We have to continue on this path now and be convinced of our own ability.
"If we can do that, I am sure we can enjoy other satisfying nights like this," he said.
Roma coach Bruno Conti is now expected to return to his previous role in charge of the club's youth system after guiding the team to Serie A safety.
"I took over in a very difficult position and we stayed up and qualified for the UEFA Cup. From tomorrow, we will evaluate things," said the coach, a member of Italy's 1982 World Cup winning squad.
Conti said whoever takes over at Roma had plenty of work ahead of them.
"There needs to be a review of this season in order to reconstruct a major side for our fans," he said.
