Thanks to a natural phenomenon, it is not all about the plays and celebrity sightings in New York City. When the sun lines up with the Manhattan street grid before setting, the city gets bathed in radiance.

This astronomical event, known as Manhattanhenge, attracts a lot of visitors. The term was popularised by noted astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson.

Tyson recommends going as far east as possible while still being able to see New Jersey in order to enjoy the sunset's alignment with street grids, in the same way the sun lines up with Stonehenge in the UK.

The next 'full sun' event will be taking place at 8.12pm on May 30, 2018.
