Many letters of complaint get published but not so many of thanks, which is why I write this letter.

Firstly many thanks to the ground staff and doctor at Malta International Airport. My mother-in-law arrived from the UK for Christmas and New Year, lost her footing as she stepped onto the bus to arrivals and cut her shin badly.

Within minutes the ground staff had telephoned for a car and alerted the doctor on duty. With swift attention the leg was dressed and mum was sent to St Luke's Hospital - many thanks to the staff at accident and emergency there.

Also many thanks to the waiting taxi driver who then took my husband and his mum to St Luke's and retained their suitcases in his car, saying he would return about an hour- and-a-half later. But although the attention at St Luke's was good, it took time for X-rays and then the dressing of the wound, so after three hours in the hospital the taxi driver took them to the Gozo ferry and even arranged to drive on to the ferry so the lift could be used.

And now our many thanks to the staff at the Gozo polyclinic for dressing the wound each day.
