The HSBC Cares For Children Fund is supporting the Swim 4 Puttinu swimming marathon taking place at the Ta' Qali Swimming Complex from 2 p.m. on Friday.
The 50-hour, 100-kilometre long marathon will raise funds for the Puttinu Cares - Children's Cancer Support Group, an organisation established with the financial backing of the HSBC Cares For Children Fund in September 2002.
The support group provides social and financial support aimed at improving the quality of life of children with cancer and their families. It has helped some patients get special treatment abroad, helped to refurbish Wonderland Ward at St Luke's Hospital and supports medical and nursing staff development.
Throughout the marathon, which will come to an end at 4 p.m. on Sunday, a number of other activities will be taking place. On Saturday, a static car show by the Old Motors Club will be held outside the complex with another static show by the American Auto Club taking place on Sunday. The RAW bikers will also participate throughout the weekend.
The mobile blood transfusion unit will be on site on Saturday and Sunday morning for those who wish to help save a life by donating blood.
