Hara Yumiko broke the pain barrier to win on her marathon debut in Nagoya yesterday and secure her place in Japan's world championship squad. The 23-year-old, a half-marathon specialist, overcame stomach pains to edge out fellow Japanese Megumi Oshima to win the Nagoya international women's marathon in 2:24:19.
