In March 2004, there were 8,420 registered unemployed with the Employment and Training Corporation, compared with 7,564 the same month in 2003.

The unemployment rates for March 2004 are not available since the data of the labour supply for the month have not yet been published.

The unemployment rate in November 2003 stood at 5.7 per cent of the labour supply, unchanged from the previous month, the National Statistics Office said yesterday.

This figure is also based on those registering as unemployed with the ETC.

In November 2003, the long-term unemployment rate stood at 1.9 per cent, whereas the unemployment rate for persons who were 45 years and over stood at 4.0 per cent during the same month.
