Representatives of the US Embassy's marine security guard detachment brought holiday spirit and more than 100 brand new toys to dozens of refugee children at a party held at the Good Shepherd Convent in Balzan.

The occasion on Monday was organised with the cooperation of the Emigrants' and Tourists' Commission and the marines also provided snacks and refreshments.

The activity was funded by the US Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Programme. Created in 1947, it is an official community programme of the US Marine Corps and the Marine Forces Reserve. During its 57-year history, the programme has donated over 300 million toys to more than 150 million needy children around the world.
