Is not the Church Christ's bride? How else then can a true Christian describe a sacramental union between a man and woman as anything other than an actualisation of Christ's betrothal to his bride!

It follows, therefore, that every severance between spouses constitutes a stance based on either ignorance of the significance of a sacrament (lack of knowledge or conviction) or a failure to adhere to one's own baptism. These vows we make are not solely one to another but, more importantly, to our Maker.
