On Saturday Marsa took on Melita in another match from the Winter League.
Khosla brothers, Nick and Nowell, opened the batting for Marsa. Neither made an impact but Jeya Krishna and Mike Caruana hit the best partnership of the day for the Marsa innings - 36.
Caruana was next to go out trying to hit Sunny Krishna's first delivery for six. He missed and was clean bowled for 20 runs. Jonathan Tully made a short appearance and was caught at mid-on for one run.
Ronnie Sacco was also clean bowled by Sunny Krishna as Sarfraz Ali was the only batsman not out at the end of the innings. Marsa were bowled out on the last ball of the 24th over. Aided by 19 extras, they totalled a low 109.
The pick of the Melita bowlers were Sunny Krishna and Tony Slater who took two apiece.
Marsa had to bowl efficiently to have any chance of winning this match as Mike Smith and Mark Sacco opened the batting for Melita.
Sacco was first to go, bowled by Swift. Zaheer Malik entered and smashed Nowell Khosla for a four and a six in Nowell's first over. But then, Ronnie Sacco took three wickets in seven balls to sway the game in Marsa's favour.
Spiteri was next to go, trying to hit Khosla over the boundary. Fielder Mike Caruana moved back five metres before taking a marvellous one-handed catch. Joy Ghoseroy was Melita's strong point and remained unbeaten on 18 runs. Melita were bowled out for 97 with ten balls remaining.
Marsa took eight points from this win while Melita managed two.
Krishna still lead the ladder with 19 points, Marsa 15 and Melita three.
Marsa meet Melita again next weekend at noon.
